What is a Host Placement?
Host placements are frequently used by insurers and workplace rehabilitation providers to help an injured worker with their recovery such as:
- Improving their work conditioning
- Gain new skills and experience
- Provide an opportunity for the person to see if they can carry out the duties of a certain role
- Provide an opportunity for a host to trial a person prior to employing
Key Features of Host Placement
- There is no cost to the host and they do not pay the client for the work that they do
- The client generally continues to be paid by the insurer to participate
- They are legal and supported by government bodies such as Workcover
- A Worksite Assessment is typically conducted before commencement to ensure that the placement is suitable for the client
- The client is covered by the insurer for the placement once it is approved
- Placements generally run for 4 weeks however in some cases may be extended
